Solemn ceremony of cancellation of the souvenir sheet devoted to the Olympic Race Relay

Today, on October 30, 2013, exactly 100 days prior to the Olympic Games in Sochi. Ceremony of memorial cancellation of the souvenir sheet “XXII Olympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi city. Olympic Race Relay” took place at the observation deck of Ostankino Tower. Head of the Federal Communications Agency, Oleg Dukhovnitski, Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Communications, Information Technology, and Massive Communications, Oleg Ivanov, and the Ambassador of “Sochi 2014”, singer, merited artist of the Russian Federation, Diana Gurtskaya, were amongst the participants of the event. Oleg Dukhovnitski had confessed to Mass Media representatives, that ceremony venue was selected for a good reason as Ostankino Tower is a symbol of not only Moscow city, but the entire Russia.

Diana Gurtskaya had also shared her emotions: "I am very proud of my today’s participation in that memorial ceremony of cancellation of the stamps “Sochi 2014” at the highest point of Moscow city, Ostankino Tower ".

Souvenir sheet "XXII Olympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi city. Olympic Race Relay" was released in postal circulation on October 7 this year, as of beginning day of the race, being the principal symbol of the Games. Press run of the souvenir sheet comprised 120 thousand. It was prepared by the publishing trade center “marka” accountable to the Rosssvyaz.

Earlier the lamp with the Olympic Flame was delivered to the observation deck of Ostankino Tower, the tallest structure in Europe. Russian figure skater, silver winner of the Olympic Games 2002, as well as TV presenter of the “First TV Channel”, Irina Slutskaya was honored to deliver the Olympic Flame.

Today, various events confined to the symbolic date “100 days prior to the Games” took place throughout the entire Russia. In particular, memorial banknote with the nominal value of 100 rubles and memorial coin worth 25 rubles were released into circulation in Moscow city, and the Olympic Flame was delivered to Kaliningrad.
